Family is a big part in the racers lives!!! We are the ones that go and cheer the guys on. We are there in rain or shine for the most part at least. Taking pics and then taking time to post them for others to see, if they are unable to make it or dont go to the race. I think the toughest part of being a family member of a racer is when they get hurt. I remember when my dad was out riding with one of his buddies for fun and he hit a tree and came off his quad and cracked/broke a rib or two. I have never seen him in so much pain. And at that moment I hated him doing it, cuz i didnt like seeing him in pain. As long as he stays on the quad im fine. When he comes off is the bad part. But they are all tough and can handle the pain or they wouldnt be out there. This kinda stuff isnt for sissys thats for sure!!!

I dont know about any one else but I am very proud of my dad. He has done such a good job, he use to just ride for fun and now hes out there trying to get first place. Hes also gone from riding his big green to the sport one and he has done a really good job in the short amount of time that he has rode this one. Most of the time b4 we even leave the house for a race he is walking around the house making 4-wheeler sounds.

That's a great post...I love the part about Terry making the 4-wheeler sounds around the house :). You are 100% correct about how tough it is for the family...I know I am relieved each lap that I see Mark come through...whether he is in first or last, I am just glad he made it through the lap :-D.
By the way, is that story about Terry breaking his ribs the one where he was at the BBI training grounds???? We all felt sooooo bad that he got hurt that day...

lol...my oldest daughter could tell you about the worry part. She went with me to the Brandy Memorial last year. That was her first time spectating alone while I was racing, and I couldn't get my head into the race (I had the worried dad thing going on). I only made two laps, and had so many problems on the second one that it took forever. By the time I pulled off, she had already gone to scoring to ask if I'd come through or if the sweep rider was with me. (bless her heart, she remembered that I'd told her to check with scoring if it took too long for me to come through and she was getting worried).
