Ohio Outlaw Motorsports Adds Race Events At Holmes County Fairgrounds

OOM Media Relations / Monday, August 24th, 2009

Ohio Outlaw Motorsports announces additional events for the 2009 racing season, as the motorcycle, quad and UTV flat track show will return to the Holmes County Fairgrounds. Since running two Friday night TT races earlier in the season, OOM has received numerous requests from competitors, spectators and sponsors to add more events at the fairgrounds and to develop a small clay oval track.

OOM was forced to reschedule one event at Lakeville Speedway and cancel another on September 5th, but the date remained open. Cancellation of a two-day half-mile race traditionally held the first weekend of October opened up another set of race dates. The Holmes County Fair concluded on Sunday, August 23rd, and OOM immediately began construction of a race course the following Monday.

The first additional event on Saturday night, September 5th will be a flat track race on the oval, and the next additional event will be held over two days at the Holmes County Fairgrounds. Saturday night, October 3rd will be another flat track race, with a TT race the next day on Sunday, October 4th. The races will coincide with the annual Holmes County Antique Festival in the adjacent village of Millersburg the first weekend of October. Camping will be available at the fairgrounds for the OOM weekend event, including electric and water hookups and shower facilities.

Even before the halfway point of the inaugural season, OOM was solicited by other venues and promoters for additional events yet in 2009, and although proprietors Adam Campbell and Bob Sigler continue to proceed cautiously they are excited about the additional events for a multitude of reasons.

“We continue to build on a long standing relationship with the Holmes County Fairboard,” says Campbell, “the positive response from so many racers and spectators is matched by that of the community, in recognition of our efforts at the fairgrounds. The support and encouragement from our strong competitor base certainly has much to do with the decision to try additional and new fairgrounds events yet this season, but this could lead to even bigger things such as a busier schedule at the fairgrounds next year, or possibly an event during the county fair.”

“The only way to find out is put in the hard work and give it a try,” Sigler adds, “weather conditions are out of our hands, and can either be abysmal or fantastic at this point of the year, seems there is rarely any middle ground. If good weather sets the stage, racers and spectators will have a golden opportunity to make a big statement for the future of Ohio Outlaw Motorsports and dirt track racing.”

Fifteen of OOM’s Pro Quad division riders made a big statement recently at Lakeville Speedway in an exciting feature race during a Friday night stock car program, generating more buzz about the upcoming Rutherford Memorial. The Tim “Smoothy” Rutherford Memorial Pro Quad race at Lakeville on Saturday night, September 12th features a $2,000 purse, paying $1,000 to the winner. Although OOM is focused on the upcoming flat track race at the fairgrounds, Campbell and Sigler are considering another quad exhibition during a Lakeville Speedway stock car race yet in 2009.

Information regarding additional events Saturday night, September 5th, the two-day flat track and TT race Saturday night October 3rd and Sunday October 4th, the Rutherford Memorial and the complete Ohio Outlaw Motorsports schedule is available on the website www.ohiooutlawmotorsports.com.
